LOW NOISE AND QUIET FIREWORKS

WHAT ARE SILENT FIREWORKS?

Questions Answers and Myths Busted…

Silent Fireworks Explained

Simply put, silent fireworks do not exist. They are not made anywhere on the planet, nor have they ever been. It’s a myth created by animal rights groups. If they did exist then every firework company in the world would be using them.

It’s Science. The noise is a side effect of the shapes created, it’s not the primary purpose of a firework. Rapidly expanding gases are created throwing out the colourful burning elements within a firework, it’s this expansion we hear as a bang. Without it there would be no effect in the sky at all.

This doesn’t mean that we can’t reduce the noise of a firework display to lessen the impact on the local environment. And that is exactly what we aim to do here at QuietWorks. Using a very carefully selected range of professional fireworks we create displays set to music that will still knock people’s socks off! The feedback we get normally tells us people don’t even realise they just watched a quiet display. Fireworks are an all senses experience, with the strongest one being visual not audible.

Our quiet (or low noise) displays still have a similar noise level at close ground level as a standard noisy firework display. But the noise will not carry as far as the loudest fireworks that normally happen at height have been replaced with other effects. So the overall impact is very much reduced.

Everyone was blown away by the show, especially when it went into the second song, no one could believe it! And then the epic finale was incredible, I certainly had a few tears in my eyes throughout the display.

Our family and friends couldn’t stop talking about how fantastic it was! It was one of the best shows we have ever seen!! So Thank you so much!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do Silent Fireworks Exist?

NO! It’s a complete myth that there are completely silent options available. Even an Ice Fountain has some noise to it.

Can you take the bangs out?

We get asked this a lot. The short answer is no, the bang you hear is a side effect of the expanding gases that are produced by the explosives used in fireworks. To get a firework up in the air it needs to be pushed out of a tube on the ground at great speed, this is achieved by rapidly expanding gases created when black powder is ignited.

If this is removed then the coloured elements would just burn in the tube on the ground.

What are Quiet Fireworks?

Some fireworks make more noise than others. We carefully select a range of professional fireworks that we know produce much less noise. Put together into a musical display they still have an incredible effect but with a greatly reduced overall noise pollution contribution.

Will my dog be ok with quiet fireworks?

If they don’t like noisy fireworks then probably not. But each animal is an individual. We never try to tell people what is best to do with their animals, they will know them best.

The best solution is to remove animals from the area where fireworks are going off. Often it’s not just the noise that animals do not like. It can be the flashing lights and the strange smells.

We never make any promises that selecting this quiet option will have any improved impact on animals. There is little to no evidence that any fireworks have any lasting impact on animals, and no evidence that we are aware of that a quiet display will have any improvement on that impact.

Will there be smoke?

Yes, all fireworks produce some smoke. Atmospheric conditions (think dew point) have the biggest impact on how much smoke and where it goes.

This is why we need certain safety distances from major roads etc…

Do Fireworks Kill Birds?

No. Even the RSPB agree! There is little to no evidence that fireworks have any impact on birds or wild animals at all. No more than general human activity does anyway.

Most animals react to fireworks as they do to a thunder storm. It’s common for us to witness groups of livestock standing together and watching a firework display. Cows in particular.

We don’t deliberately set off fireworks to upset animals, we go to every length we can to inform those booking a display of the potential hazards to animals in their local area and steps they might want to take to reduce that.

Do You do Noisy Fireworks?

Nope! We only offer quiet options. But, if you are looking to book a noisy show our sister company Matthews Brothers Pyro can help you with that.
